Guardian Program

All About Being a Guardian Home

  • As a guardian home, you provide love, daily care, and a cozy spot on the couch. We take care of all breeding related stuff - veterinary care, litters, etc. It’s our way of giving dogs a loving home instead of keeping them in a kennel setup when they thrive in a home setting.

    • The whole family is in agreement on adding one of our dogs into their house and become a permanent member of the family.

    • Be willing to care for this dog for the next 10-15 years.

    • Be willing to train the dog in basic obedience.

    • Be willing to feed the diet selected by Otter Creek.

    • Notify Otter Creek of ALL veterinary appointments, changes in health, injuries, etc. as soon as they are noticed.

    • No intact dogs of the opposite sex are allowed in the home.

    • Live within 200 miles of Ohatchee, Alabama (negotiable if the guardian is willing to drive).

    • Be fully health tested at breeders expense (OFA hips, elbows, Embark DNA).

    • Receive compensation ($500) back for each litter.

    • Have opportunity to be a guardian home for one of her puppies (if you choose).

    • Have the opportunity to be involved in the whole breeding and whelping process.

    • After retirement, the guardian dog is spayed, at breeder cost, and is 100% yours at no cost.

    • Free boarding with us if needed at anytime (as long as we have space).

    • Fully health tested as breeders expense (OFA hips and elbows, Embark DNA tested).

    • Come back for breeding for a few days (1-4 days) when female is in heat for breeding. There is no minimum or maximum number of litters a male may sire over his lifetime and MUST be made available as needed.

    • Males MUST live within a 2 hour drive from Ohatchee, Alabama unless otherwise agreed upon.
